Saturday January 10th, 2009 Welch Village

Date & Location: Saturday January 10th, 2009 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 18 degrees Blue Bird day

Vertical feet & runs: 4,930 feet 15 runs

Season Total: 57,100 feet 159 runs

Comments: Rode with Charlie! GBD, Charlie and I went to Welch! GBD was in Mad Jaxx nursing his broken shoulder. Charlie ripped at snowboarding and sucked at the "Jean Punch" game. I have given him an assignment to come up with a creative name for that game. Nanny's Knob was our fav of the day. Charlie and I tore up the AC/DC bowl. It was his first double black diamond run. Not happy about getting beat in the Harley race. Last run of day GBD watched Charlie and I destroy Dan's Dive. They will probably have to make new snow on that run.

GBD: It's hard to hold a table all by myself in Mad Jacks when it's busy. And it sucks to look outside and see all the fun. But I love being around it and I'll be back! Please everyone, just love GBD.

Charlie: Today I snowboarded with Matt while my dad sat in the bar. I had a lot of fun! I beat Matt in a race by 45 yards. Afterwards we went to King's Place. I had a 1/2 lb cheese burger. I ate it quite fast. I also went to the back bowl and did a double black. It was super fun.

Sunday January 11th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Sunday January 11th, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 16 degrees Cloudy morning/ Sunny afternoon

Vertical feet & runs: 5,440 feet 17 runs

Season Total: 62,540 feet 176 runs

Comments: Rode with Glen, Pete, Josh, Terra, CJ, and Heather. Yes you heard it correctly Heather. Christina, Ernesto, Rodrigo, and Andrea showed up later but we didn't get a chance to ride together. Yeah EAGLES! GBD held down our table all day on the busiest day ever at Mad Jaxx. Thanks GBD! Did some AC/DC riding and played on the Nanny's Knobs Knobs. Fun day and lots of beer. Did a perfectly timed nose roll for my brother's viewing pleasure. Always trying to impress the lil bro! Some random guy gave me a "I (heart) head" sticker.

Glen: I rode awesomely hard that I ripped my crotch on my snow pants. Matt, CJ, and I had a blast on the ice features. First day with a lot of the BFGSC and it was a blast.

Heather: Today was a great day for my official "coming out" to Welch for 2009. I spent 2 hours at Mad Jaxx "warming up" and headed out to the back bowl, thanks to GBD. Thanks Dave! After the first run my calves burned of course because I rode so hard and awesomely. After that, the burning went away and the last 5 runs ruled. Perfectly scheduled day hopefully with a pit stop at King's. A girl can wish. Peace out.

CJ: Good times had by all (I guess I can't comment for everyone but it's true). We even saw a mouse running across the hill in the back bowls!

Terra: Can't believe CJ is still talking about that mouse (see above). Good day of riding. Leaping Liz is a fave. Off to King's for some weird burger combination...chow.

Pete: I rode with Heather today...no shit.

Snow & Weather: -10 degrees yes negative 10 Cold 6" new yesterday for sweet packed powder

Comments: Rode with Greg & Tony's Theme. Wind chill advisories. Butter packed pow. Frost bite face. Frozen goggles. Frozen fun! We are hard core!

Greg: Was warmer than I thought it would be. The only reasons to take breaks on bitter cold days are : 1. foggy gogglage 2. beer 3. frozen nenis* Slow snow conditions. What powder left was sprayed to the cheering crowds gathered to watch us ride.
*Nenis: the very tip of the nose. a combination of penis and nose.

Snow & Weather: 21 degrees Cloudy then sunny nice firm snow

Vertical feet & runs: 6,250 feet 20 runs

Season Total: 74,000 feet 221 runs

Comments: Rode with Glen, Vicki, Skier Sean, Josh, Rhett, Nate, Pete and CJ. I heard Terradactyl and a beginner friend are here but I didn't see them. GBD held the table for us again. He rocks! Fun AC/DC riding with Vicki. We played on the snow mounds on Great Scott in the back bowl. She cracked under pressure of the paparazzi. Rhett and I did the east side tour for session two. Now we watch football. I don't know who to cheer for. AZ or Philly?

Nate: OK day finally rode with a group. It was cool. BB was awesome except for the meat gates.

Skier Shaun: Great day, great conditions, gotta love this place.

Vicki: Fun riding today, definitely best snow for me all year. Back Bowl was great today. Camera shyness came out again today-bummer. Paparazzi needs to take me by surprise not plant themselves in front of me.

Glen: They no have Schlitz at Mad Jaxx! Oh ya!

Josh: Nate got new pants today. They cost $27. They're friggin sweet. He got them at Eric's. He was just checking to see if his Len's were in. They cost $27. They're friggin sweet.

Rhett: SHREDFUCKINTASTIC! Channeled Jack through my board and Greg through my boots. Awesome time. Except for when Josh-bag made me wipe out.

CJ: I like it when it's above zero!

Snow & Weather: -1 degree Cold Blue Bird

Vertical feet & runs: 7,010 feet 22 runs

Season Total: 85,310 feet 258 runs

Comments: Rode with Greg, CJ, Terra, Kevin (cool), and Glen. GBD and Vicki watched. Leigh would like to thank:
1. Dopplemeyer
2. Workers
3. Spouses
4. MN DNR
5. Goodhue County Land Resources
6. Last and definitely not least Jesus Christ for fashioning the hills and valleys thousands of years ago (oh did he!) and the angel or looking out for us today.

What about the glaciers? The photo of me upside down on the pipe wall looking like I was falling but I didn't fall. Greg and I impressed GBD with a tandem run down Pete's with a tandem hop finale. OMG the third and last session of the day had the leinie guy jumping from behind trees to scare me! That jerk! Now off to Treasure Island to celebrate Terradactyl's birthday.

GBD: I'm freezing from walking to the car. I would complain on the slopes today. But at least I got to hear Matt spar with Santa Claus about racing kid skiers. Santa: "they spend a lot of money here" Matt: "so do I!"

CJ: COLD! And my goggles sucked today.

Terradactyl: Not much warmer @ -1 versus -30 but it's my birthday so I don't care! T.I.....here we come!

Glen: I love cold riding and Welch is dead. Off to TI to own the tables.

Greg: Totally had to come out for Terra's big b-day. Chilly as usual. Back in Black Bowl snow was great along the edges. Just another "training day" for Big Sky. Oh, Matt and I tore down Pete's criss crossing all the way down with simultaneous sweet double crowd pleasing roller hop in front of Madd Jaxx's that made GBD cream his pants. Seriously...I'm just sayin :)
